Dear Eric,
I wanted to take a moment, on behalf of all of us at BW, to put in writing something that we have felt for a long time, but perhaps not said often enough.
Your support, guidance, and candor over the years, particularly during the period when we were rebuilding and refocusing BW, have been invaluable. You were not simply a distributor or a commercial partner; you were a steady, experienced voice when the landscape was uncertain and the stakes were high.
One piece of advice in particular stands out, and time has only reinforced how right you were.
At a moment when COVID-era disruption and global supply chain instability were forcing difficult decisions across the industry, you were unequivocal in your guidance: avoid Chinese components entirely, look inward instead and build resilience by relying on UK and European suppliers, and only those aligned with NATO countries and trusted defense frameworks. You urged us to prioritize component provenance, security, and long-term reliability over short-term convenience.
That advice shaped our engineering and procurement strategy in a profound way. We doubled down on UK and European supply chains, working only with partners whose components are acceptable within defence and allied-government contexts. It was not always the easiest path, but it was absolutely the right one, and the benefits are now clear.
As a result, BW transmitters today are not only component-safe and supply-chain secure, they are also robust in the truest sense of the word. They are hard-wearing, dependable, and built to perform in environments where failure is not an option.
We are proud that BW equipment has already proven itself under real operational conditions, including deployment by US military units in demanding theaters such as Afghanistan. That experience was not theoretical testing; it was real-world validation.
Equally, we continue to see that same resilience demonstrated in very different but no less challenging environments. Our transmitters remain in long-term service in Scandinavia, including Sweden, where they are deployed in some of the most frigid and punishing climatic conditions imaginable. Whether in heat, dust, cold, or isolation, the outcome has been the same: steady, reliable performance.
None of that is accidental. It is the product of disciplined engineering choices, conservative component selection, and the kind of strategic advice you gave us when it mattered most.
So this note is simply to say thank you. Thank you for your honesty, your foresight, and your unwavering support of BW. We are proud of what we have built, proud of where our equipment has been trusted to serve, and proud to work alongside partners like you who understand what durability, security, and reliability really mean.
With sincere appreciation,
Kind Regards
Tina Tucker
