FCC Opens Filing Window for New Non-Com FM Translators!

The FCC has opened a historic, highly anticipated filing window for new Noncommercial Educational (NCE) reserved-band (Channels 201-220, or 88.1 to 91.9 FM). [1, 2]
This rare opportunity operates under the following details:
  • Filing Window: Opens at 12:01 a.m. ET on August 11 and closes at 6:00 p.m. ET on August 25, 2026.
  • Where to File: Applications must be submitted via FCC Form 2100, Schedule 349 in the Commission’s Licensing and Management system.
  • Eligibility: Applicants must already be the licensee or permittee of an existing NCE FM, noncommercial AM, or LPFM station.
  • Limits: A cap of 10 applications per applicant is enforced, and a four-year holding period applies to all granted permits to prevent spectrum speculation. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
